MAC’s NFL Best Bet
4:05 PM ET - L.A. Chargers at Denver
Never fade the Chargers on the backend of the season.
The Chargers are the move this Sunday. Historically they are not a team you bet against heading towards the end of the season, and as it stands it looks like they will make a post season appearance followed by their typical disappointing playoff appearance. The bookmakers are known for making soft lines on the Chargers towards the end of the season and this week they are a small 2.5 point favorite. The smart money is all over the Chargers, the public is all over the Chargers, the books will pay out on this game. LA has covered the spread in 5 of their last 6 road games. Denver, meanwhile, is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 overall. The Broncos are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 12. The linesmakers are setting a Bronco home game trap, but making them a 2.5 point home dog isn’t fooling THE MAC!

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (-4 ½) at Boston College Eagles
This is potentially the biggest game that Wake Forest has been involved in for quite some time, as a win here will see them move on to the ACC Championship Game. They could have sealed the deal last weekend, but a loss to Clemson has them going into the final week of the season needing a win to officially punch their ticket. They will be up against a Boston College team that is just 2-5 in conference play this season, but the level of pressure that the Demon Deacons are under here may have an impact on how this one plays out. The Eagles are just 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games, and while Wake Forest have not been particularly convincing against the spread this season they should get the job done this weekend.
Quick Trends:
Demon Deacons are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
Demon Deacons are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
Demon Deacons are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 road games.
Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog.
Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf.
Eagles are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Lester “6 Clips” Cullen’s Prediction
Wake Forest -4.5
Indiana Hoosiers at Purdue Boilermakers (-15)
One of the most difficult things you can do, even at the tail end of a decent season, is to go into the final game of the year with nothing really at stake. The Indiana Hoosiers have been out of it basically since the early stages of the season, but Purdue hung around a little bit in the race for the Big Ten West Division, although that is now gone for them. Still, Purdue are looking at 8 wins on the season and the potential for a decent bowl game with a win here, and there is a lot to like. Indiana has covered the spread just once in their last 9 games and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. Purdue has covered in 4 of their last 6 games overall and 4 of their last 5 against Indiana.
Quick Trends:
Hoosiers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game.
Hoosiers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games.
Hoosiers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings.
Hoosiers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 meetings in Purdue.
Boilermakers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
MAC’s Prediction
Purdue -15
Wisconsin Badgers (-7) at Minnesota Golden Gophers
Winning the National Championship is the ultimate goal for every single team, even though we are all well aware that only a handful of teams have a legitimate shot in any given season. Once that goal becomes unattainable, the next best thing is to win your conference. The Wisconsin Badgers come into this weekend in control of their own destiny, knowing that a win will take them to the Big Ten Conference Championship Game next weekend. They are on a tear right now, winning 7 in a row ahead of this one. They have been a great bet on the road, covering the spread in 6 of their last 8 games away from home.
Quick Trends:
Badgers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games.
Badgers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Road team is 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
