MAC’s NFL Best Bet
1:00 PM ET - New Orleans at Philadelphia
Playoffs? Playoffs?? Let’s just say the playoffs are the reason why we put up with some of the trash the NFL televises. The Saints are a contender and the Eagles are pack of bums with a scratch ticket. That being said, sharps are salivating over this line, Philadelphia is a -1.5 favorite at home, however, they have lost their last five home games. Over the past three weeks the Eagles are averaging 32.7 points per game, not too bad, they need to get ahead of the Saints early and hold the line. Philadelphia has placed a greater emphasis on the running game in recent weeks, even in Sanders' absence - Jordan Howard, Boston Scott, and Kenny Gainwell have filled in and the Eagles have averaged 208.7 rushing yards in the last three games. Hurts leads the team with 547 rushing yards for the season. The Saints are in a slump and have lost a pair of consecutive tight games, while Philly has won 2 of their last 3. The public is all over the over with the total opening at 44 and dropping to 43, you never see a bookie with a part time job so be aware of that line movement.
MAC’s Prediction
Philadelphia 24 - Saints 17

Florida State Seminoles - Boston College Eagles
While neither of these teams are going to be in the conversation for the ACC Conference Championship Game, there is still something to play for here. Specifically, the Florida State Seminoles are 4-6 and need to win out to become bowl eligible. The Eagles are 6-4 on the season and have already punched a bowl ticket, although whether that has any impact on how this game is played remains to be seen. The Seminoles got a nice little boost this past weekend with a win over the Miami Hurricanes, but that is just one step in their march towards a bowl game. As far as this meeting goes, the Seminoles have won 9 of the last 10 versus Boston College and have won 5 of their last 7 on the road against the Eagles. I think they flop and lose in a blowout to BC.
Lester “6 Clips” Cullen’s Prediction
Boston College -2
Quick Trends:
Seminoles are 8-17-1 ATS in their last 26 games as an underdog.
Seminoles are 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games overall.
Seminoles are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
Seminoles are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 conference games.
Eagles are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite.
Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a home favorite.
Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.
Texas Longhorns over West Virginia Mountaineers
This week, taking Texas to win a game of football is certainly up there in terms of risky picks. The Longhorns have now lost 5-straight games to fall to 4-6 on the season, which is the same record as the West Virginia Mountaineers. Their 57-56 loss to Kansas this past weekend was of the shocking variety and it’s tough to imagine how they bounce back from that one. The Mountaineers have won 8 of their last 10 games at home, which makes this pick even more precarious, but I just have a feeling that Texas will come away with the victory.
MAC’s Prediction
Texas +3
Quick Trends:
Longhorns are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
Longhorns are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
Mountaineers are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 home games.
Mountaineers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
UCLA Bruins over USC Trojans
The PAC 12 is another conference that looks to be decided, with Oregon and Utah almost certainly going to the Conference Championship Game. While that puts a bit of a damper on the upcoming conference matchups, don’t tell that to UCLA and USC, as this is a meeting that both teams have circled on the schedule every single year. The Bruins broke out of a mini slump with a win last weekend, punching their bowl game ticket in the process. At 4-6, the Trojans are in real danger of missing out on a bowl game, and with 3 losses in their last 4, pulling out 2 more wins seems unlikely. UCLA have been poor on the road to USC, winning just 1 of the last 11, but I think they are more than good enough to get the win here.
RedAlertWagers.com Prediction
UCLA -3
Quick Trends:
Bruins are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
Bruins are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in November.
Bruins are 6-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
Bruins are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games.
Trojans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games.
Trojans are 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Trojans are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.
