Four Seattle pitchers combined to strike out 15 batters and walk one.
Anderson has won just once in his eight starts with the Mariners despite posting a respectable 3.83 ERA and racking up 34 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings over that span. His last win came Aug. 17 at Texas, when he tossed six innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts.
Despite entering the series tied with the Toronto Blue Jays (81-63) for the top AL wild card, the Red Sox (81-65) are now on the outside looking in. They trail the New York Yankees (80-64) by a single percentage point for the final AL playoff spot.
Boston will send right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (10-8, 3.57 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday to oppose Seattle southpaw Tyler Anderson (6-9, 4.20).
Eovaldi will be looking to build off a solid start at Tampa Bay on Wednesday. The All-Star tossed seven scoreless, three-hit innings while walking two and striking out eight in an eventual 2-1 win for Boston.
While the Red Sox were victorious, Eovaldi is winless in his past five starts despite pitching to a 2.05 ERA, striking out 37 and walking just five batters over 30 2/3 innings. His last win came Aug. 11 in a 20-8 rout of the Rays, during which he tossed seven innings of one-run ball with 10 strikeouts.

MAC's Must Watch Game - Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Chargers
Dallas is on a few days extra rest after losing 31-29 at Tampa Bay on Thursday night in Week 1. Dak Prescott completed 42-of-58 passes for 403 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Making his first start following last year’s catastrophic leg break and this summer’s shoulder woes, Prescott tied his career high for attempts. Going back to Week 2 of the 2020 season, Dak has thrown for 400 yards or more in four of his last five games. He’s the first NFL passer to achieve this.
The Cowboys played the opener without All-Pro guard Zack Martin, and he’ll play in this one. However, receiver Michael Gallup has landed on injured reserve and right tackle La’el Collins is suspended for five games for failing to show up for drug tests, pending an appeal.
Under the NFL’s rules, Gallup likely wouldn’t be eligible for return until the Oct. 10 game against the Giants in Week 5. Gallup is dealing with a calf injury he suffered in the second half of the Bucs game. He had four catches for 36 yards. Last Thursday was Collins’ first start since 2019 after missing all of last season due to a hip injury requiring surgery. He has returned healthy from the injury this year, though he did miss a few days late in training camp with a neck stinger. Collins will be eligible to return to the Cowboys’ active roster on Monday, Oct. 18, following the team’s Week 6 game at New England.
The Chargers won 20-16 at Washington in Week 1 in a minor upset. Justin Herbert completed 31-of-47 passes for 337 yards and a touchdown.
The second-year quarterback was clutch on third downs, completing 13 of 16 passes for 160 yards and converting 11 first downs. He continually threw receivers open and faced little pressure from the Football Team’s front seven. Herbert’s day would have been far better if not for a controversial fumble near the end zone and an end zone drop by Mike Williams.
Herbert became the only quarterback in NFL history to have 400 completions over the first 16 starts of a career. He also joined Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes as the only players ever with 4,500 passing yards over their first 16 starts. In nine of his 16 career starts, Herbert has thrown for over 300 yards. 3) Keenan Allen and Mike Williams combined for 17 catches for 182 yards and a touchdown on 25 targets. It was Allen’s 28th career 100-yard game. Williams caught a career-high eight passes.

Relevant Trends for Cincinnati Bearcats at Indiana Hoosiers
Bearcats are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game
Cincinnati is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing less than 150 yards passing in their previous game
Over is 5-1 in Bearcats last 6 games as a favorite
Hoosiers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win
Indiana is 13-3 ATS versus a team with a winning record
Over is 7-1 in Hoosiers last 8 non-conference games
Iowa spanked Indiana big time in a game that many thought was going to be much closer. But although the Hoosiers suffered the huge loss, they bounced back well. Also, Iowa has turned out to be one of the best teams in college football.
Right now, the Hawkeyes are the highest ranked team in the Big Ten. So there’s a chance Indiana improves from their terrific win against Idaho.
However, Cincinnati is one of the best teams in the nation. The 8-ranked Bearcats are playing well on both sides of the ball. Yes, Cincinnati hasn’t played a great team yet this season, but they hung with Georgia in the Peach Bowl to end last season.
So far in 2021, it’s more of the same. Give Cincinnati the edge. The Bearcats are for real. Indiana has yet to prove they can hang with a squad as good as Cincinnati and the line is more than fair.
